Field Trips

IAM offers free educational tours and workshops to kindergarten through grade 12 school groups. 

Led by a museum educator, students explore a selection of artworks through guided close looking and discussion. In the Learning Studio, students are encouraged to experiment with materials to create artwork inspired by the artists and themes explored in the Museum.

Led by a museum educator, students explore a selection of artwork in the galleries through guided close looking and discussion. In the Learning Studio, students are encouraged to experiment with materials to create artwork inspired by the artists and themes explored in the Museum.

The tour and workshop last approximately one and a half hours and can be modified as necessary.

Guided Exhibition Tour

Our guided tours use an interactive approach to learning to provide social and cultural contexts for understanding art. IAM educators guide students in exploring a selection of artworks through close observation and thoughtful discussion, encouraging them to discover, question, reflect, and deepen their understanding of the artistic process.

Tours last approximately one hour and can be modified as necessary.

Self-guided tour

A museum educator will welcome you to explore the museum on your own. 

Group Size

IAM can accommodate up to 30 people for a guided group visit. Teachers and chaperones are responsible for supervising groups. Student groups (K–12) must have one adult chaperone per every 10 students.
