“I was on hemodialysis for kidney disease when I reconnected with an old friend from a past life who asked about my treatments. I decided to make an illustrated envelope for her ( now on the book cover) that told the story. When she received it through the US mail, her enthusiastic response made me realize I needed to make others. After drawing and sending her 450 more envelopes, made with ballpoint pen while on the dialysis machine and colored with prismacolor pencils the morning after, I realized maybe it was time to put some of them into a book.
