“Several years ago a college friend and I reconnected at a reunion and she told me she was planning a number of road trips around the United States in furtherance of a series of poems and ask me to join her. I would photograph on our travels while she gathered ideas and verbal images. After eight trips we had amassed a great many images both photographic and verbal. The obvious end product was a book. The photographs and poems are not meant to narrate our travels . Rather we hope to reflect the extraordinary diversity of a country that, remarkably still holds together as one nation.”
