This Open House Chicago, explore the newly renovated Intuit Art Museum while listening to performances from the classical musicians of playOUT!
In response to Karla Wong: Journeys of Being, playOUT! will perform works by LGBTQ+ composers, with a particular focus on award-winning transgender Mexican American composer Mari Esabel Valverde. The performances, which will take place throughout the Museum, will include several of Valverde’s works for solo piano, performed by pianist Nicholas Guetterman, as well as her string quintet David: A Prison of Gender, performed by cellist David Sands and playOUT!‘s string quartet.
playOUT! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying LGBTQ+ artistry in classical music through performance, commissioned works, and community partnerships. Through innovative programming, playOUT! celebrates LGBTQ+ composers and performers while creating opportunities for community engagement and artistic collaboration.
