Are you inspired by the imaginative universe of Henry Darger? In celebration of Darger’s birthday week, we invite artists of all ages and experience levels to submit art in response to Darger’s work. Selected submissions will be presented in a projected slideshow in the Center for Learning and Engagement (CLEO) at Intuit Art Museum from April 15–19. The deadline for submissions is March 31st by 11:59 PM.
Submissions may include visual or sound-based work medium. Works will be selected based on curatorial discretion and presentation capacity. Artists whose work is included will be notified prior to the program.
Then, join us on April 16 from 5:30–7:30 pm for a reception celebrating the many creative responses inspired by Henry Darger.
Tips for photographing your art:
Place your artwork on or against a solid color background.
To avoid shadows, photograph your work in soft, bright and even light. Natural light often works best
iPhone images and video are okay! You can set your video resolution at 4k in Settings –> Camera –> Record Video
You can take photos at the highest possible resolution by going to Settings –> Camera –> Formats, and then turning on Resolution Control. Once you go back to your camera you’ll see the option appear in the top right corner.
Submitting to After Darger acts as consent for Intuit Art Museum to utilize submitted content for social and physical media promotion of Darger Week, both present and future. Furthermore, Intuit Art Museum reserves the right to utilize images taken at the event that capture submitted content in the background in any way determined fit for promotional and development purposes.
