Every second Friday, take a break and drop in for a casual screening of a film from the Museum’s Robert A. Roth Study Center. Each short documentary provides insight into the work of a different artist from the IAM collection.
Gregory Warmack, better known as “Mr. Imagination,” carved the sandstone byproduct of steelmaking and constructed sculptures from various salvaged materials. He was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, where he received local recognition for his work, which he frequently gifted to friends and family.
One of his neighborhood projects, The Mr. Imagination Grotto, located in the art garden of the former Elliot Donnelley Youth Center near the South Side Community Art Center, stands as a monument to his work with local neighborhood children.
