Discover together through engaging activities for all ages as you explore the Museum, learn about the art on view, and make your own artwork with Chicago artists. Inspired by Catalyst: Im/migration and Self-taught Art in Chicago artists Aldo Piacenza, Derek Webster and Thomas Kong, explore art created by and for the communities we live in.
Featured drop-in art activities include
11:30–12 pm: All ages ‘Slow Look’ of works by Thomas Kong
12–1:30 pm: Personalize your clothing with Chicago-based artist Kalief Dinkins. A limited number of t‑shirts will be available in sizes S‑2XL, and participants are invited to bring an old t‑shirt to be upcycled.
2–3:30 pm: Sculpt your own keychain using polymer clay with IAM Emerging Museum Professional Xo Ramirez and Intuiteens.
3pm‑4:30 pm: Using colored pencils, create a collaborative “Memory Map” from your most beloved remembered places with Project Onward artist Michael Bryant.
