Literature for All of Us Poetry and Drum performance and Art Show
June 1 , 2006

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art will host a performance by young men participating in Literature for All of Us on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 6:00 PM at Intuit, 756 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago. Admission is free and open to the public.

The young artists and poets will present masks, paintings and poetry they created in response to their weekly discussions about literature. Their poetry performance will include accompaniment of drumming. A discussion and reception open to all will follow the performance.

Literature for All of Us is a nationally recognized agency that provides weekly book groups for young people that include literature discussions, art projects, and poetry writing. Chicagoland artist and puppeteer Michael Montenegro and musician Jason Tucker are working with Literature for All of Us to create a multi-disciplinary program for young men.

Literature for All of Us cultivates literate young readers; empowers adolescent girls and boys to think of themselves as intelligent and creative citizens; provide literacy tools for teen parents to use with their children; increase public visibility and awareness of young people's voices; and share books and poetry across class, neighborhood, age and racial lines. For more information, please visit www.literatureforallofus.org

Please join us for this one of a kind performance, and support the efforts of the young men from Literature for All of Us.
