Outsider Art Europe Tour March 14 - March 25, 2010 Intuit will host a tour of European outsider art sites March 14 - March 25, 2010 led by Randy M. Vick, Associate Professor of Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Europe has played a central role in the study, collection, and exhibition of work by outsider artists. It can be argued that the history of this work began with the collections of Hans Prinzhorn in Germany and Jean Dubuffet in Switzerland. The focus of our trip will be to visit the historic psychiatry collections and museums as well as private collections and contemporary workshops for artists with disabilities. Heidelberg and Bern serve as the base cities for this 12-day tour with day-trips to other cities in the region. Travelers will gain a greater appreciation for how historic collections and contemporary studios have shaped and continue to influence the world’s appreciation of art by artists working outside the cultural mainstream.
