Altered Photography Workshop

Saturday, September 20
$15 members, $25 non-members

In conjunction with our exhibition, Finding Beauty: The Art of Lee Godie, Intuit will offer an exciting hands-on workshop with a vintage photo booth onsite. Lee Godie was a Chicago self-taught artist, who often used photography as a way to explore identity. Using the photo booth and Godie as inspiration, participants will create their own altered self-portraits. The workshop will be instructed by artist, Amy Mayfield. Mayfield received her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has had her work exhibited widely, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Threewalls, and Hyde Park Art Center.

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art promotes public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of intuitive and outsider art through education,
exhibition, collecting and publishing.  Intuit defines ‘intuitive and outsider art’ as the work of artists who demonstrate little influence from the mainstream art world,
and who instead are motivated by their unique personal vision. This definition includes art brut, non-traditional folk art, self-taught art, and visionary art.
