Sublime Spaces & Visionary World:
The Built Environments of Vernacular Artists

John Michael Kohler Arts Center
Saturday, December 1, 2007
Time: 9am- Bus departs Intuit, 756 N. Milwaukee Avenue
Cost: $100, lunch included

If you missed the International Conference in September, you still have a chance to see the exhibition. Meet at Intuit at 8:30am for a continental breakfast. We will board the luxury bus for the Kohler Arts Center at 9am. There you will see an incredible reinstallation by 22 artists who transformed their homes, yards, or other spaces into multifaceted works of art. Presented in 13,000 square-feet, you’ll be awed by number of Emery Blagdon’s dazzling healing machines, David Butler’s colorful yard sculptures, the Rhinestone Cowboy’s sparkling home, Nek Chand’s sublime figures, and much, much more. A docent-led tour will be provided. We will have lunch on site and hors d‘oeuvres on the return trip.

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art promotes public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of intuitive and outsider art through education,
exhibition, collecting and publishing.  Intuit defines ‘intuitive and outsider art’ as the work of artists who demonstrate little influence from the mainstream art world,
and who instead are motivated by their unique personal vision. This definition includes art brut, non-traditional folk art, self-taught art, and visionary art.
